Last week I posted a tutorial for cut-off denim shorts, and in it I mentioned other varieties to try. Well, I took my own advice and cut off some chinos. I thrifted some Old Navy olive green capris for a few dollars. I bought them to fit a tiny bit loose and used my own tutorial to cut them off. The problem that arose after I tried them on was that the bottom 1-2 inches still flared out a bit - it wasn't skinny on my leg the whole way down. An easy fix was to loosely cuff the shorts to use up the extra fabric. I kept the raw edge and didn't hem them either. They may fray a bit, but you know I like the distressed look anyway. These shorts turned out to be really comfy, easy to style, and fun to add to my summer wardrobe.

Did you try last week's shorts tutorial? Have I convinced you yet?

  1. I love making my own cut offs! So fun! Those leopard slip ons are pretty great, too.

  2. Yes, I did! My favorite jeans had a hole in the knee so I cut them off using your tutorial, and now they are my favorite shorts. :-) Thanks!

  3. Love this look and the fact that you diyed the shorts! I think I need to buy those shoes - I've been obsessing over them for some time now. So glad I found you via The Pleated Poppy!

  4. Boy, you are talented. I try not to do clothing projects! They look great and i like the outfit with the leopard slip ons

  5. Love the look, now here's my question, Kilee: why not the leopard print earrings to hark back to the shoes? Too much leopard print? I'm guessing that's your reasoning.

Loving my N&S earrings, wearing the gold ones again today. You are so right about these. Featherweight, don't even know they're there.

  6. You look super comfy. Which is what I strive for everyday!

    come on by :)

  7. Such an edgy, chic look! ;)

    God bless,
    XO, Claire

  8. I like these a LOT! Definitely inspiring me to head to the thrift shop for some pants to chop up!
