ONE little MOMMA: Where We Live

Where We Live

As trivial as it is to talk weather- we all know it deeply impacts our day to day life. This Winter has been especially cloudy here in Missouri and it has made this a particularly difficult past few months. Usually Missouri winters are cold, but sunny. This winter- no sun. And the sun makes a difference!

When we lived in Seattle after college, I'm convinced I was seasonally depressed in a bad way. I wish we had invested in fake-sun lights and all of that, but I didn't really believe in it at the time. We just struggled on living away from friends and family in a dark and wet climate. Thankfully we had the chance to make a change and ended up here in KC. I know Seattle sounds so much more appealing than Kansas City, Missouri- but it wasn't right for our family. At least not then.

Besides the bugs and the lack of mountains (hubby's main complaint), we love living here. Our community is so family friendly and religious. The area is growing and creative and the perfect place to raise a big family and start a business. Not to mention we have my family here too! We've had so much local support for our business and I'm so thankful for our Liberty and Kansas City community.

Thankfully Spring weather is on it's way- at least for a few days- so we're settling in to enjoy it. Soon we'll be enjoying warm weather, green grass and a real Spring. I can't wait!

I'd love to know where you live and why you love it! Let's hear it in the comments!

  1. We live in south east Queensland, Australia. The summers are brutal and we get about 2 weeks of 'cold' weather every year. I'd love a little more cool and a little less 'so hot you can't sleep' but it's kind of fun to eat ice cream on the beach in winter. It's home and I have a feeling it always will be.

  2. I live in England about an hour away from London. I live in a city with lots to do but no community spirit. I'd give that all up for a big house in the country side

  3. I do love the town I live in. We have an awesome community. However, I really do not like living in the state I live in (WI). I've lived here my entire life and I cannot handle the winters - they are far too long and cold and grey. I don't do well in that. I need warm.

  4. I've spent time in both KC and Seattle ... I'd chose KC too!!!

I'm in CO and we've also had a grey Winter. I'm over it, I definitely struggle with S.A.D during Jan & Feb each year.

    Bring on Spring!

  5. This winter has been really rough, but I do love living in KC. The seasons are nice for the most part and there is so much to do here. Its a great place to raise a family. I'd love to move somewhere warmer, but I really can't see myself ever leaving KC.

It was so fun to meet you in the Nashville airport, hope y'all had an amazing trip!

  6. In East TN you're never quite sure what the weather will be like, although in general the winters are pretty cold and grey. They also seem to alternate between rainy dampness and bright sunshine coupled with bitter cold. Usually one or two good snows that melt within a couple of days or less. I kind of hate winter here. But in the summer it can get quite hot and rather humid. I'm not a fan of humidity, but I'll take it over cold any day! And warmth... you can't beat that gorgeous summer sun, can you? :) :) I can't wait for spring and summer to get here!

  7. I live in a quaint little city about an hour outside of Chicago. Winter here has been brutal and very dreary. Missing the sun, trees, and flowers. We dream of living somewhere warm, but we moved here 10 years ago to raise our family near family. Even though we woke up to ice and snow today, it is March and spring can't be too far away...

  8. Oh I'm not the only Midwesterner! :) Iowa here. I am definitely ready for spring and by this time every year, I am bored/tired of all my winter clothes!

  9. I live in Kodiak, Alaska & absolutely love it!! We're a small island but have big gorgeous mountains, constantly out hiking & enjoying God's beautiful creation!! Our winter has been rainy, which had been very unlike Kodiak but we might finally get a Spring season & not more snow!

  10. Your sweatshirt has me dreaming about a tropical vacation! I live in Michigan and it seems like the summers get shorter every year; but they are fantastic while they last. We typically have all four seasons, which I enjoy, but wouldn't mind a shorter winter! It is also a major plus having access to the beautiful Great Lakes.

  11. I live in Lancaster PA. ( Not Amish) This is where I grew up and I love it because we have all 4 seasons... and I love snow. I am a winter lover at heart but being a dairy farmer I also love the spring and fall. My biggest complaint is not living close to mountains. but with a farm we need flat land :)

  14. When we lived in the KC/Liberty area, I used to love going shopping in downtown Liberty. It had so many awesome shops and I loved the feel of it. I used to buy clothes at a shop there, but I think they moved several years ago.

  17. I live in St Andrews, Scotland. We've had quite a stormy winter, wet and windy. Gone cold again and there has bern snow, so waiting for things to start to warm up! My new N&S scarf has arrived at the right time to keep me cosy :)

  19. I live in Logan, UT. It's been such an odd winter here! Warm for a week, then cold for a week, then rainy and now it's freezing and snowy. Usually it's snowy but not freezing. I lived in KC for 6 years and graduated from Raytown High. I love KC and really want to move back. Liberty is one of my favorite places. My husband and I are going to school at USU. I'm majoring in Costume Design and he's majoring in Film so we'll probably end up in CA. I guess that's not so bad, right?
