ONE little MOMMA: Sunday Style- Tights and Nylons

Sunday Style- Tights and Nylons

|

SHIRT- Elizabeth and Clarke c/o // SKIRT- Groop Dealz c/o // BOOTS-Old Navy // BAG- Freshly Picked // EARRINGS- Nickel & Suede // CUFF-Nickel & Suede

If you have followed me for long- you'll notice something unusual about this outfit. I'm wearing tights. I decided to give them a try during this cold burst we are having and I found out I actually liked it. I didn't love the feeling of wearing them, but I do like these ankle boots so much more with a skirt with tights! Unfortunately my husband pointed out a hole in my thick black tights before we left the house so I had to change into my backup blacks which were nylons. It took all of about ten minutes in church with Knox's Velcro shoes sitting on my lap before my nylons had a run. A big one!

So I threw both pairs away and am now on the hunt for the perfect thick black ones. I did pick up a pair of nude tights with tiny black hearts all over them at Old Navy this weekend so maybe tights and I will give things another go.

What tights do you love? I'd love your recommendations!

  1. I love your outfit! Adorable with the tights and booties!

I'm with you on the tights. I too, had been on the hunt for tights that last beyond one wear, but also don't want to feel like they are squeezing the life out of me. I'm not a big person by any stretch of the imagination, but find that most often they are uncomfortable and constricting (even if I size up).

I have purchased a wide variety (thickness and price points) and find that the thicker one are longer lasting. My favorite for comfort have been the Target ones. They don't come in a packet and are usually located on the end cap in the sock section at Target (they come rolled up). They are either $5 or $6 per pair and they last and are comfortable across the waist. I also like the knit ones from Target (Merona brand). They never run! They are more of a sock like fabric versus nylon. Up close they almost seem like something you would've worn as a little girl (especially if you get the patterned/cable knit ones), but they are warm and last forever (about $10 pair). The only thing about Target (at least in my area), they seem to stock them at the beginning of the season and when they're gone, they're gone.

I also have some fleece lined tights, which seem more like a legging with feet, super warm and never run! Black Friday Walmart purchase 2 pairs for $4.

  2. Vera Wang for Kohls has a great pair of thicker tights that are pretty comfortable too. But hands down my favorite pair were purchased at Costco last year in a two-pack, and are still giong strong! (I think they're DKNY) You look great as usual.

  4. Fleece lined are cozy warm and duper sturdy. Mine are in their third winter and still going strong. They can be found at Walmart and target or you can Google to see where else carries them. I have black, grey, burgundy, pink and chocolate brown. Sooo cozy. ;)

  7. I have been known to stitch up a hole in my thick black tights. Works in a pinch, especially if its not front & center.

  9. I love the "assets" brand at Target. It's from the makers of Spanx and they're really stretchy and thick so they last and last!

  10. My favorite tights are DKNY -- I've found a few discounted pairs at places like Nordstrom Rack or Costco. They're just the right thickness, they're durable, they don't get stretched out, and the waistband is actually not terribly uncomfortable!
