Living in the Midwest- we get all four seasons. This year is supposed to be a terrible Winter and I do not do Winter. I really don't like the cold, the bitter cold or deathly freezing windchill cold. And as far as getting dressed in the Winter- I hate covering up with the same giant coat and snow boots. So this year I'm hoping to branch out my coat game. If I can get a few different coats or thick jackets to bundle up in I think I'll be happier to brave the extreme temps.

Soren already found me the perfect snow boots (MUST BUY!) and I've got my eyes on a few coats- including a J Crew one at Savers that is missing a button. Tomorrow is 50% off day at Savers for Veteran's Day and I plan to snatch it up (fingers crossed it's still there!). And maybe I'll find a few more coats while I'm thrifting. This jacket from Chicwish has a fuzzy lining and while not extremely warm, it works great for layering and I love the color.

How do you up your Winter style? How many coats do you put in your rotation?

  1. Those boots are KILLER! What an awesome vintage find. I spotted a Frye boot sticking out of a pile at a thrift shop once, but I couldn't find the other one. I dug around for it, and even asked the cashier to check the back because they were all scuffed up, but they were my size and I wouldn't have ever forgiven myself for letting them go, but she couldn't find the other one anywhere. It was a great tragedy... ;)

  2. I have about 6 coats in my rotation - 2 are for work days, in the peacoat variety, 1 is for super duper cold days, another 2 for every day throw on, and another 1 is light for rainy days.

Living in Colorado, I too, know all about four seasons (and sometimes it feels that way in just 24 hours). Layers are my friend and so my jackets have to be big enough to support multiple layers underneath. Sometimes, I feel like a big marshmallow.

Yesterday, I had a great consignment store find for my daughter - a really nice, barely used winter jacket - just in time for the winter storm that is rolling in today. Thank goodness it held off one more day so I could be prepared!
