Earlier this week I shared my fashion phobias, and in line with that, lately I'm trying to push myself outside of my closet norm. I live for neutrals like black, white, gray, or military green, but lately I'm kinda warming up to navy. I've never owned anything navy until this year when I picked up a classic navy striped tee. Who doesn't love a classic navy stripe? I tried out some navy camo pants and loved them too. So far, so good with the navy. So I when picked out this navy full midi skirt from eShakti I thought it would be a cinch to style.  But when it arrived I thought, 'How do I wear this?' The age old question of what to wear with navy. Brown? Black? I first tried it with a beige scarf and ankle boots and it felt... safe. But what does safe get me?

I decided to try wearing navy with black, a combo that many other bloggers have raved about for months. I added black ankle boots and a black printed scarf to my white sweater and navy skirt. I even threw on a black cuff for good measure. And I think it worked! The white top really helped push me over the edge by brightening up the combination, while the scarf brought it all together.

  1. That skirt is amazing!
Personally I love navy with hot pink or neon green best! Or gray if I'm feeling more tame ;)

  3. Navy is one of my favorite colors this year. I love pairing it with mint, or with mustard if you're looking for some color!

  4. Girl, I feel you on neutrals! Your wardrobe palate is why I follow your blog. That and your hair! I've had short, bob-ish length hair my whole life (except in college because who's got time for hair cuts in college. lol) and I love seeing someone sport a short bob in a fashion blog. Btw, since you mentioned your phobia of tights in your post yesterday... This is an outfit that would look great with a pair of black opaque tights. For one, it'll keep those legs warm with all that snow flying around. ;) Keep up the good work! I look forward to your posts everyday. :)

  8. Navy took me awhile to warm up to, as well. I think you've managed it beautifully here. Also, kudos to you for being willing to go out in what looks very cold weather for your photos!

  9. Absolutely love this combo, love navy and black together. I do however have a sneaking suspicion that you might look fab in a bin bag, but will keep visiting just to check!
