Easy DIY Paper Leaves Garland for Fall

This easy garland requires only paper, twine and hot glue! Make fun Fall decor in one afternoon!

I really love having a chalkboard in our kitchen. It comes in handy so often and it is also a fun space to decorate. I have been looking for a fun garland to hang there as I decorate for Fall, but haven't found one yet. I love to create something if I can't find it so I grabbed some paper and started cutting.

This easy garland requires only paper, twine and hot glue! Make fun Fall decor in one afternoon!

I made this garland in under an hour with just some colored paper, hot glue and twine. First I cut out two or three leave shapes to serve as my patterns.

I traced my patterns on the paper. The papers all had a different finish or texture to them and no leave turned out the same which was exactly what I wanted.

After I had my pile of leaves, I hung my red twine across my chalkboard where I wanted it to hang. Then I dabbed hot glue on each stem one at a time and placed it on the twine. I layered the colors to add dimension. It worked best to hang the twine before I glued so that the garland didn't become stuck to the surface I was crafting on.

As I went I cut extra leaves when I needed more of another color or shape. I added some gold leaves in at the end for a little unexpected texture and shine.

The ends of the garland needed a little something extra so I cut and tied some wide orange ribbon bows on each end. I love how it turned out! It feels really festive and unique and it's perfect for the space!

Fall Ties and Bowties- Now Available

I have got to say that my favorite part of owning a business is definitely designing product. When I find new fabric for ties- I can't wait to share them with you! Well I am finally ready to release some of our Fall fabrics this week!

I fell in love with this red buffalo plaid and have been buying it in all forms! My husband has a matching tie and I have a shirt in it too! This is the perfect color red and darling for Fall and the holiday season!

I love swiss dots and this caramel brown polka dot is darling. Just pair it with blues, black, or grays- even do a little pattern mixing with a plaid shirt!

We also have solid oxblood ties in the shop. These deep red ties are so on trend this Fall and will match everything in momma's closet. I love to coordinate with my kids and this color is on of my favorites to wear right now! Oxblood bow ties will be in the shop later this week.

And our staple ties are still available too!

Happy Fall!!

InstaFriday- Catch Up

Seriously- Catch Up is the best name I can think of for this post, and for life in general right now. I am realizing that I have a lot on my plate and it has become more than I can chew. I'm being real today just so that you know that I can't do it all. I'm admitting defeat a little bit. Knox has started to wake up more and wants to be held (heaven forbid) and he isn't on a schedule yet- so pretty much all of my spare time is GONE. I wasn't not expecting it, but its still rough to actually deal with. My house is chaos, orders are going out late, and blog posts are being written by the skin of my teeth. I feel like I am always catching up and it is exhausting for someone who likes to be prepared and ready for everything ahead of time!

I know this is just that time of life for me, but it is hard to be torn between being a mom (which I love but is demanding) and working which is awesome and hard in a different way. I want to put my kids and husband first, but after that, I have been trying to identify what has to go.

I have two Etsy shops and the blog- all of which I am trying to expand right now. I also start my turn teaching our preschool co-op next week and I'm still taking my ballet class once a week. Not to mention I have two races that I should be training for, but am usually too tired to get up in the morning to run.

Are you exhausted just from reading this yet?

So far I have quit my freezer meals group and am aiming to pass play group planning on to another momma. It's hard to let those things go, but I just need to narrow down my list of to-dos.To be honest with you, I'm looking to get some help with house cleaning as well. I feel guilty about it on one hand, but feel like we need it on the other. I'm not the type to let my house go and I feel like keeping it up is all I do while the kids are awake. I hate that and if I want to grow my businesses and my blog and stay sane as a mom of three, I feel like I need to call in the professionals on the house cleaning front.

So new lessons in life and motherhood are abounding over here. While it sounds like I'm whining like crazy- I really am SO happy and loving this time of life. This is the best life has been and it keeps getting better!  I'm definitely learning to be more patient and let go of some of the selfishness that likes to creep in. It is hard to let things go, but it is even harder to do all things poorly just because I don't want to admit defeat. I don't want my kids to have a constantly stressed out momma and I want to put them first.

How do you deal when it feels like your plate is too full? Any tips from you veteran mommas?

Hallmark has so many fun cards for any birthday occasion! #shop #cbias #BirthdaySmiles

Well the birthday package is off! I wanted to give you a heads up and a thank you for voting on which Hallmark card to send my brother last week. The results were close between the fortune cookie card and the moo-sical card, but the fortune cookie card won!

I have to be honest though- I broke down and sent him all three. I just knew he would enjoy each of the cards and that the package wouldn't weigh much more for sending the cards too. He should get it this week and hopefully I'll get an email from him with a fun report. I wish we could celebrate with him- but I'm so proud of what he is doing there.

Because I was alone when I shopped for Cody's card, I was able to browse for other cards as well. Kesler has a birthday next month and Soren's is in November so I grabbed them each a card too. I just know that Kesler will love the musical dinosaur card and I'm sure we won't hear the end of it. We all know that I like to plan ahead so it felt good to stock up on cute cards for upcoming birthdays.

Be sure to check out Walmart's Hallmark card aisles next time you are shopping alone or are on one of those fun 'Walmart dates' that sometimes happen to us. You'll be surprised by how much fun the cards are to look at and listen too!

What I Wore- Vintage Tribal Print Blouse and a Color Pop Skirt

The perfect ankle boot for any outfit- pair them with bright colors like teal and red this Fall.

Vintage blouse

Ombre short hair
Top: Vintage
Skirt: Thrifted
Boots: Old Navy
Earrings, Cuff: F21

When I saw this blouse I was instantly attracted to it, but kept second guessing myself. I loved it, but was it too over the top? Too vintage? (Is there such a thing?) Anyway I decided to go for it and I'm so glad I did! Do you ever waffle about buying a certain item and then once you take it home you think, "What was I thinking?!? Of course this is amazing!" It happened with these boots too! I was in Old Navy with a friend and impulse bought the booties. Once I got home I was SO glad I picked them up when they were on sale. If you don't have any ankle boots yet I really recommend these. They aren't leather- but they aren't a huge investment and the style will work for all occasions. This gray brown is a really hot color right now, but I love them all. I'm still deciding if I can justify the red ones too, aren't they amazing?

What Kids Wore Wednesday Link Up

Welcome to this week's link up! Over the Summer I wasn't feeling up to dressing my boys up more than on Sundays, but now that it is cooling down I'm getting just as excited to dress them as myself. (Almost) Anyway I bet you feel the same and have some darn cute kiddo style to share. You'll be so glad you recorded it down the road!

What did my kids wear?
I had to share this darling onesie that Knox has been wearing. It is from another Etsy shop, Earth Cadets, and I love her style!

I'm not a huge fan of the bright skinny jeans and gender neutral clothing trends for boys right now, but I did put Easton in his first pair of skinny jeans recently and I LOVE how they fit him. He is so slim that I really do think they are a flattering cut on him.

This week's feature is from Twin Dragonfly Designs. I love her scarf tutorial for boys. My guys won't wear them, but I put Knox in them when I can. Thanks for linking up!

Personalized Purse Organizers for Momma and the Kids

Easily customize these blank bags to organize your purse with items for you and for your kids.

I have a weakness for large bags. My go-to purse is actually a vintage carry-on suitcase because it has all of the room I need! I love to carry a big purse because I love being prepared. Whenever we go on trips my husband always tries to limit my bag count because, well I tend to go anywhere prepared for any situation. As a mom there are countless items that might come in handy say if someone burns their leg on the tail pipe of the van or if someone draws all over the pews at church.

But these big bags have a problem- they can carry so much that they usually get pretty messy and then it gets hard to find what I need when I need it. So when I found these blank make-up bags at Target I thought they would be a great solution to my bag problem. I'm sure you can find similar bags at Micheal's or Hobby Lobby. I grabbed two of them and wanted one for my stuff (make up, hair ties, etc.) and one for the kids' things (crayons, Tylenol, band aids, etc.).

The bags had a fun print inside, but I wanted to personalize the outside to make them easy to find in the darkness the abyss I call a purse.

I printed out the words I wanted on each bag in a fun font and sized it accordingly.

Then I used freezer paper as my stencil. Basically I traced and then cut out the words from the freezer paper so that it acted like a stencil. Then I temporarily ironed down waxy side of the freezer paper to hold it to the fabric and painted the stencil on the bags with fabric paint.

I like the words on them and originally thought that was all I would do, but I decided it needed something else.

I grabbed some miniature Martha Stewart stencils and added a fun print to each bag. Before stenciling I made sure to tape off the lettering so that it would stay clean.

And that was it. It was a quick afternoon project that was fun and easy. I loved choosing my own font and pattern for each bag. And they really have kept my purse SO much cleaner.
